Application Performance Monitoring (APM) improves the uptime of your application and ensures the user experience is optimal within Full-Stack Observability.
Application Performance Monitoring (APM), Full-Stack Observability (FSO), and Observability (O11y) optimize collaboration resulting in reduced business silos and better business outcomes. FSO APM provides real-time insights into all applications in the cloud and on-prem. At Xigent, we understand and educate the benefits to MELT and how you can incorporate them into your FSO strategy to increase visibility and effectively identify and resolve availability and performance issues. Receiving instantaneous actionable MELT data provides beneficial insights into application performance with this fundamental and interrelated data before affecting the end-user experience. Assisting clients with APM application monitoring to identify and mitigate application performance issues and impacts of upgrades and migrations to your mission-critical applications before they have a negative effect on end-users. Xigent observability methodologies, including intelligent notification routing and standard operating procedures, can save clients from a monetary and brand reputation perspective.
Xigent’s APM expertise service provides our clients with baseline metrics providing insights into real-time and root cause of application issues as well as where to focus to resolve for the fastest possible Mean Time To Resolution (MTTR).
Mark pulled into the parking lot and put his head against the steering wheel. It was the 3rd Monday of the month, and everyone on the team knew what that meant: trouble. 3rd Sunday was when code updates were applied, and inevitably some bug that nobody caught found its way into production and caused everyone from end-users to the CEO a giant headache.
As he walked in the door, Mark noticed that everyone was sitting at their own desk. ‘That’s weird’, he thought. ‘Normally by now we’d have a war room going to figure out who to blame for today’s problems’. He grabbed a seat, logged in, and checked his emails. Nothing with an exclamation point. He leaned over to see if Emily was on the phone; she wasn’t.
“Hey, did code release get cancelled last night?”
Emily took a bite of her muffin and smiled. “Nope”.
“Annnd… everything’s running smoothly this morning?”
Another smile. “Yep.”
Mark frowned, and Emily laughed.
“Remember that APM solution we bought last month?”
Mark nodded. “Of course. What about it?”
“Well, when they dropped the new code in it started screaming so the development team took a look. Turns out there was a for loop that snuck its way into a method that was making thousands of database calls.”
“Oh, geez,” said Mark. “So they pulled out the changes?”.
“Nope,” said Emily. “The APM tool showed them exactly what line of code was causing the problem so they just fixed it then and there. Updates are in, and everything’s running smoothly.”
“So I can just… I dunno… do my job?” Mark asked.
One final laugh from Emily punctuated the air. “If you can remember what it is,” she joked. “Enjoy!”
