Service Delivery Consultant – Network

Role Description

Xigent Solutions is currently seeking a skilled network engineer who will be responsible for maintaining and administering our company and clients network infrastructure. Primary duties will include maintenance of computer networks, hardware, software, and other related systems, performing disaster recovery operations, protecting data, software, and hardware from attacks, and replacing faulty network hardware components when necessary. One will be working closely with the users of our network to identify potential issues and fix existing problems. To be a successful candidate, you will need to have a solid understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. You will need to be able to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers. An understanding of application transport and network infrastructure protocols is highly desired. Role Duties

  • Interact with client information technology associates to drive IT outcomes and facilitate the spread of technical and process competency.
  • Implement and administer network solutions that provide core infrastructure including private cloud and integrate with services and systems running in virtual private and public cloud infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain security systems and their associated software, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems and anti-virus/malware software.
  • Communicate with team to identify needs, monitoring performance, and troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with network and systems.
  • Coordinate network access and use.
  • Continually research new technologies and educational opportunities.
  • Oversee computer networks to maximize performance and minimize downtime.
  • Manage multiple improvement initiatives within and across clients.
  • Monitor and analyze infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity to recommend enhancements to support current and future business requirements.
  • Establish standards for the configuration, installation, maintenance, operations and troubleshooting of infrastructure components.
  • Provide service desk support via resolution of customer specific incident and service requests.
  • Provide on-call rotational support.
  • Administer equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
  • Infrastructure asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Create, revise, update, and maintain documentation of environment and operational procedures.
  • Identify and participate in Service Delivery continuous improvement processes.
  • Oversee computer networks to maximize performance and minimize downtime.

Required Skills

  • Ideal candidate will have at least 10 years’ experience in network engineering/infrastructure architecture, and at least 2 years hands-on experience supporting cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud for an organization.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Business or a related major is preferred.
  • Certification(s) in administering and/or architecting network-based technologies is preferred. (e.g. Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE4, Certified Azure Administrator).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Cisco, Fortinet and Meraki networking technologies (switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Experience in implementing, monitoring, and repairing local and wide area networks.
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Understanding of networking (subnetting, routing, VPC/VNet, security groups, load balancing, etc).
  • Knowledge of the following will help you stand out:
    • Azure DevOps, Terraform, Ansible, Desired State Configuration (DSC), JSON, YAML
    • Experience with Azure Automation, orchestration, and configuration management tools
    • VMWare product (vCenter, vSphere, Horizon/View, vRealize
    • Storage (SAN and NAS) technologies. Platforms such as NetApp, Pure and Nimble, etc. Certifications considered a plus
    • Backup/Recovery and Disaster Recovery technology experience. Platforms such as Veeam, Cohesity, and Zerto
  • Team player who integrates easily and communicates with a positive attitude.
  • Able to identify where support is required and proactively provide it.
  • Be committed to providing outstanding customer service (internally & externally).
  • Need to be energetic and self-motivated, thriving in a hands-on environment and require minimum management supervision.
