Job Description

The Infrastructure Consultant’s role is to deliver on our managed service and professional service contracts, providing an excellent client experience while meeting our SLAs and timelines. This includes planning, securing, installing, configuring, optimizing, and documenting data center hardware, software; protecting and recovering data; and monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving incidents, while ensuring minimal downtime. It requires training and support numerous platforms within Xigent’s technology portfolio.

Duties & Responsibilities

Strategy, Planning & Acquisition
  1. Work with sales engineers, client success managers, and project managers to provide IT capabilities
  2. Perform service design and capacity planning
  3. Conduct capacity and availability management
  4. Develop, implement, and maintain operating practices
Deployment
  1. Implement and secure new hardware and software solutions
  2. Create and maintain documentation as it relates to solutions, configurations, dependencies, processes, and service records
  3. Protect against data and service degradation, loss, and disaster
  4. Monitor data center physical and virtual assets and services
Operational Management
  1. Provide service desk support for internal and external client requests and incidents
  2. Provide scheduled and/or escalated on-call support
  3. Manage assets
  4. Update & upgrade firmware and software
  5. Manage and troubleshoot events and incidents to minimize incident duration
  6. Test and recover data and services against loss or disaster
  7. Execute configuration changes
  8. Update and continuously improve documentation, including asset records, KBs, and SOPs
  9. Consult and communicate with internal and external clients
  10. Ensure services are provided within service level agreements (SLAs)
  11. Participate and support configuration change management
  12. Provide guidance and support for jr. members
  13. Other duties as assigned and requested

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required

Proficiencies
  1. Demonstrated proficiency in basic security principles and practices
  2. Managed and professional services delivery organizations
  3. Demonstrated proficiency in four practices and technologies listed below:
    1. Server: Vmware vSphere, Microsoft Server, Linux, Cisco UCS, HPE Proliant
    2. Storage and data protection: Netapp, Pure, Cohesity, Veeam, Zerto
    3. Network: Cisco Nexus, Cisco Catalyst, Cisco ASA, Fortinet Fortigate, Vmware NSX, Cisco ThousandEyes
    4. Cloud: Azure, AWS
    5. Network Monitoring: LogicMonitor

Education

  1. BA in Information Technology, Business, or related subject area
  2. 3+ years’ experience in data center operations
  3. Some certifications supporting the practices or technologies listed above
