Human Resources Generalist/Technical Recruiter

The Human Resources Generalist will be accountable for the daily functions of the Xigent HR department, including but not limited to, recruitment, onboarding, compensation and benefits, talent management, culture, compliance, and employee relations. This person will work closely with the CFO to create, refine, and enforce company policies and practices. With regard to recruitment, this unique role will fully manage all aspects of recruitment and help us grow our IT and corporate support teams. This person will need to be nimble and flexible, understanding that the role will ebb and flow at times with a heavier concentration on areas such as recruitment, performance management, or employee relations, for example.

HR Generalist Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, culture, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Develops company policies, procedures and programs as it relates to HR; responds to employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs. Promotes understanding and compliance by all employees
  • Acts as a consultant/advisor for managers and employees regarding employee relations and performance issues through one on one, small group and/or department meetings. Manages the discipline process
  • Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, especially as company continues to grow; maintains handbook and updates as necessary
  • Conducts onboarding of all new employees and works proactively with managers to address training and overall assimilation into the company
  • Conducts exit interviews to determine causes of turnover. Completes investigations of employee relations complaints and violations; including accurate reporting and follow-up with employees involved
  • Leads company through cultural growth; models company values and fosters a culture reflective of company’s vision and values
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Technical Recruiter Responsibilities:

  • Create, shape, manage, and refine entire recruitment process, ensuring all communication with managers to guarantee their understanding of the process and how they are to be involved
  • Compose and post job descriptions and ads
  • Source candidates on IT or other platforms
  • Parse specialized skills and qualifications to screen IT resumes
  • Craft and send personalized recruiting emails with current job openings to passive candidates
  • Conduct pre-screens and manage entire interview process with managers and candidates, including management of communication with candidate
  • Compose offer letters and extending offers or reject candidates as needed
  • Conduct and manage background check process
  • Coordinate with IT team leaders to forecast department goals and hiring needs
  • Participate in tech conferences and meetups to network with IT professionals
  • Onboard new hires
  • Promote company’s reputation as a great place to work; collaborate with marketing team to ensure consistent company branding
  • Conduct job and task analyses to document job duties and requirements
  • Keep up-to-date with new technological trends and products 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, hybrid position, and general hours of work and days are 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel: Minimal travel, monthly travel to our Sioux Falls office

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related business field
  • 5+ years’ experience working in human resources with progressively increased responsibilities
  • Comprehensive understanding of local, state and federal employment laws
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Proven work experience as a Technical Recruiter or Recruiter
  • Hands-on experience with various interview formats (e.g. phone, Zoom, and structured)
  • Technical expertise with an ability to understand and explain job requirements for IT roles
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems and resume databases
  • Solid knowledge of sourcing techniques

Additional Preferred Experience:

  • Experience consulting small businesses/ supporting independent divisions/ business units within a larger company
  • PHR/ SPHR Certification or SHRM-CP/ SHRM-SCP preferred or willing to obtain
